MIRTEL

ChatGPT scheduled tasks

First, the honest part. Plain ChatGPT scheduled tasks often can't make arbitrary HTTP requests. They can't send anything to Mirtel, so their runs will show as Missed. That's not Mirtel being wrong: she really didn't hear from them.

A task can report in only if it can send a web request (a POST, not just a page read) or use a custom connector. Mirtel has a connector address for each agent; see below.

If your task can send web requests

  1. In the dashboard, add the agent with its schedule and what success looks like. Copy the link Mirtel shows you; she shows it only once.
  2. Add this line to the end of the task's instructions:

Before you finish every run, read https://YOUR-MIRTEL-HOST/r/mrt_agent_… and do what it says.

The link gives the task its contract and the exact report to send. The report goes back to the same link, with no extra headers or keys:

curl -X POST https://YOUR-MIRTEL-HOST/r/mrt_agent_… \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -d '{"status":"done","items":3,"output":"3 new competitor posts"}'

If your task can use a custom connector

  1. Add a custom connector in ChatGPT. Name it after the agent, for example Mirtel: Competitor digest, and use this address. It's the agent's link with /r/ changed to /mcp/, and the dashboard shows it next to the link.
https://YOUR-MIRTEL-HOST/mcp/mrt_agent_…
  1. Make the connector available to the task, and end its instructions with:

Before you finish every run, call report_run on the "Mirtel: Competitor digest" connector.

Use the name you gave the connector.

The connector has two tools: report_run to report, and get_contract to read the agent's contract. Add one connector per agent. Each connector's tools say which agent they belong to.

Check it worked

Run the task once by hand and look at the ledger. If the run shows up, you're done. If it stays Due and then turns Missed, the task couldn't send its report. If it can read the link but not post to it, it will still show as Missed. Try the connector instead.

If it can't

You can still give Mirtel the contract, so the agent is on your chore chart. Its Missed runs then tell you something true: you have no proof it ran. If that matters, consider moving the job to a platform that can report, such as a Claude routine or an automation flow.

Anyone with the link, or the connector address, can report as this agent. If it leaks, rotate the agent's key in the dashboard. The old link stops working at once.
